Vestrahorn Seascape
This shot of the Vestrahorn was taken from the Stokksnes headland in August 2014. The area is just amazing and I had the chance to have some interesting clouds in the scene. I used my big stopper to get a 20 second exposure. Editing is done exclusively in Lightroom.

Sunrise at Laugarvatn
This picture was taken last month. I woke up at dawn, looked out of this window over the lake and knew there would be a promising sunrise. So I got up at 5 in the morning and took photographs for 2 hours.

Goðafoss
Usually I avoid taking pictures at midday, but at Goðafoss the atmosphere was very interesting. I even preferred it to the sunset I experienced over there later in the day (that photo will follow sometime in the future). The blue-green light in the water really amazed me and I immediately knew that I wanted to combine these colours with a very pronounced silky water effect. The big stopper allowed me to get a 6 second exposure that shows the power yet peacefulness of the waterfall.

Jökulsárlón beach sunset
I did a third version of my Jökulsarlon beach shot as I saw some minor problems on the big print I did earlier. Shot taken at the beach near the Jökulsárlón. I used a long exposure to get the silky water. The sky was quite interesting as the sun was setting.

Out of this World
Hveradalir is a wonderful place. When you hike over there, you think that you are on another planet. At some point you have this vantage point offering a view over a river, fumaroles and interesting mountains in many colours. I was quite happy to have people (especially the person with a red coat) in the frame to give scale to the landscape. The sun was not yet setting, but a few minutes after this shot most of the valley was in shadows. I really liked the lighting of the scene. There’s so much going on in this landscape that you have to take your time to contemplate the scene.

Vestrahorn reflexions
As I was taking photos at Stokksnes, I realized that suddenly the wind stopped so I immediately changed my composition to find a nice reflection. A few minutes later the wind was getting much stronger again and this shot would not have been possible.

Hekla
This shot is taken from Laugarvatn at sunrise. I loved the shapes of the clouds and the fact that some of them were illuminated by the sun as others were in the shade. I took some shots, then I waited for the light to illuminate mount Hekla, which lasted only a few minutes.

Skogar Sunrise
I was driving along the ring road in southern Iceland in the early morning, looking for photographic opportunities. Skogafoss is such an iconic place that has been photographed thousands of times, making it difficult to take a unique photograph as so much has already been done in terms of composition. Then I had this idea: frame the shot with the clouds and the cliffs -bathing in the light- both of which were reflected in a small lake, with Skogafoss in the distance, just large enough to be recognizable.

Sunrise over Reynisfjara - Vík
The light was very beautiful and soft during sunrise. I took some shots just before the sun was rising over the hills in the distance, but as it came up a little big higher, small stones on the beach started shining. I used a long exposure to get the effect I wanted. The big rock on the beach looks a little bit like a face.
